Javier Fernández

Javier Fernández the 2012 Skate Canada champion was born April 15, 1991 in Madrid, Spain. Javier Fernández started his season at the 2012 Finlandia Trophy where he picked up the bronze medal. His first Grand Prix event was the 2012 Skate Canada. He won the gold medal, beating defending Skate Canada and World champion Patrick Chan. Fernández became the first Spaniard to win a gold medal in the Grand Prix series. He placed 4th at the 2012 NHK Trophy and qualified for the 2012–2013 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final.

In 2011 Javier Fernández Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, the 2010 and 2012 Spanish national champion, and represented Spain at the 2010 Winter Olympics. He became the first Spanish skater to win a Grand Prix medal when he won silver at the 2011 Skate Canada International and the first Spaniard to medal at a Grand Prix Final when he won bronze in 2011.

Patrick Chan

Patrick Chan (Patrick Lewis Wai-Kuan Chan) born December 31, 1990 is a 5 time Canadian figure skating champion.

Patrick Chan’s 2012 – 2013 season start. He started his season at the Japan Open where he finished 5th. His first Grand Prix event was the 2012 Skate Canada where he competed as the defending champion. Patrick Chan won the silver medal behind Spanish skater Javier Fernandez. He then competed in the 2012 Cup of Russia where he won the gold medal after placing first in both the short program and the free skate and collecting 262.35 points overall. Chan qualified for the 2012-2013 Grand Prix Final.

On April 27, 2011, Patrick Chan set a new world record of 93.02 points for the short program. On April 28, 2011, Patrick Chan then set a new world record for his free skate, receiving an overall score of 280.98. In recognition, Patrick Chan was named the recipient of the prestigious Lou Marsh Award as Canada’s top athlete. He is the 2011 & 2012 World champion, a two-time (2010 & 2011) Grand Prix Final champion, a two-time (2009 & 2012) Four Continents champion and a five-time (2008–2012) Canadian champion. At the 2010 Canadian Championships, he was nominated to represent Canada at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where Patrick Chan placed fifth in the men’s event.

Florent Amodio

Florent Amodio the French national skating champion started his season with a 4th place at the Skate Canada competition. Florent Amodio was born May 12, 1990 whom holds the French and Brazilian citizenships. Florent Amodio competed at the 2012 European Championships and won the bronze medal. At the World Championships in his home country, France he finished with a 5th place. Due to the two good placements, Brian Joubert’s 4th place and Florent Amodio 5th place, France now has three spots in the men’s competition for 2013 World Figure Skating Championships.

In 2011 Florent Amodio became the European figure skating champion, he is a two-time French national figure skating champion and the 2008 Junior Grand Prix Final Champion. Florent Amodio continued working with Morozov, as well as Dumont whenever he was in France. He also worked with Alexei Yagudin on quad toes in the U.S. Winning the 2011 French Masters event in October. In the 2011–12 Grand Prix season, Amodio finished 9th at his first event, the 2011 Skate America. He said it was a turning point for him and he was glad it happened. He was fifth at 2011 Trophee Eric Bompard and announced that he would return to training with former coach Bernard Glesser when he was in France, and spent the time after the Grand Prix Series reworking his programs. In December, Amodio competed at the 2012 French Championships with a new short program to music from the film Tears of the Sun and a reworked free program. He placed 2nd after injuring his back during the free program.

Tatiana Volosozhar-Maxim Trankov the 2012 European champions and the 2012 Skate America gold medalists. Tatiana Volosozhar-Maxim Trankov are a Russian pair skater couple that also jut secured the gold medal in Sochi, Russia ahead of their teammates Vera Bazarova and Yuri Larionov.
