Carolina Kostner secures her 7th Italian national figure skating title. Carolina Kostner clearly dominated the 2013 Italian national figure skating championships in Milan and secured her 7th national figure skating title. Leading after the short program and even receiving a 10 from one judge clearly let the competition know that Carolina Kostner had he mind set to take this home.  After a near perfect free program and receiving 143.56 points there was no doubt whom will be the national champion for Italy.

Carolina Kostner, current world champion figure skater has kicked off the 2012 – 2013 season with the Golden Spin Trophy and the Italian National championship.  Carolina Kostner has stated the skating season with a perfect start, winning the Golden Spin in Zagreb. 1st place after the short and 1st place in the long program guaranteed Carolina Kostner the perfect 1st place. Carolina Kostner stated in July of 2012 that she will be skating competitively until the Olympics in 2014 in Sochi, Russia.

Sarah Hecken is the youngest national figure skating champion for Germany. She won her first national figure skating title at age 14. Unfortunately Sarah Hecken was not allowed to represent Germany at the European or World championships at that young age, entry age limit is 16.

Sarah Hecken won the 2012 German national championship to a total of four consecutive national titles. Her 2012 achievements are the Coupe de Printemps in Luxemburg and also the Cup of Meran in Italy, she landed Gold in both competitions.

Sochi will host the XXII Olympic Winter Games and the XI Paralympic Winter Games in 2014. Sochi 2014 will be the most compact Winter Games in the history of the Olympic Movement. It will be possible to get from one venue to another in just a matter of minutes.

Sochi is a city in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, situated on the Black Sea coast near the border between Georgia and Russia. Sochi will host the Russian Formula 1 Grand Prix from 2014 until at least 2020. Sochi is also one of the host cities for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Javier Fernández

Javier Fernández the 2012 Skate Canada champion was born April 15, 1991 in Madrid, Spain. Javier Fernández started his season at the 2012 Finlandia Trophy where he picked up the bronze medal. His first Grand Prix event was the 2012 Skate Canada. He won the gold medal, beating defending Skate Canada and World champion Patrick Chan. Fernández became the first Spaniard to win a gold medal in the Grand Prix series. He placed 4th at the 2012 NHK Trophy and qualified for the 2012–2013 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final.

In 2011 Javier Fernández Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, the 2010 and 2012 Spanish national champion, and represented Spain at the 2010 Winter Olympics. He became the first Spanish skater to win a Grand Prix medal when he won silver at the 2011 Skate Canada International and the first Spaniard to medal at a Grand Prix Final when he won bronze in 2011.
